Follow The Coach
In this tennis drill the coach will move laterally side-to-side, staying at a certain location for a certain amount of shots that is up to the coach’s discretion. The coach will then move laterally to another position for the player to continue to hit back to. The coach should volley balls back to the player and move them around the court.
This drill ensures that the player not only practices their consistency and accuracy hitting to a defined location, but it also helps the player develop their peripheral vision and their ability to watch an opponent’s movement while maintaining focusing on their shots.

Once the player begins to master this drill the coach can start to move backwards to reduce the area the player can hit to. Also having counts involved such as 20 shots in a row or it goes back to starting at zero, can build upon this drill for more advanced players.
