This drill is helpful for young kids who have not yet shown proficiency in hitting a shot side on. It ensures the players turn side on, with correct shoulder and hip rotation without staying open and hitting a shot like they’re flipping pancakes on a frying pan.
What will happen is players line up and side skip sideways until they reach the coach who will drop a ball for them to hit either a forehand or backhand for over the net. This drill can be used with modified balls and nets where appropriate. Cones can be set up on the other side of the net, which if they hit a cone they get another shot.
