Big Ball Tennis
In this drill kids are learning to practice their forehand and backhand techniques as well as movement patterns, while throwing a ball to each other within the constraints of the service boxes.
Using a big ball and explaining proper side on throwing technique allows for an early progression for beginning players learning how to position sideways and throw from low to high, as if they were swinging for a forehand or backhand. Score first to 10 points with a successful throw and catch equalling one point.
This drill is perfect for modified tennis, with modified nets and boundaries. Use the respective court size for each level of modified tennis that is in place in your country.
