Quick fast footwork is the focus of this lateral weaving drill.
This fitness drill can be incorporated into an actual stroke development drill to develop both movement and shots at the same time. However for this example we are just focusing on the footwork side of things.
As we can see the player will start on one end and move laterally weaving in and out of the cones using short-sharp footwork. The player should remain front-on and work on staying low (having a low centre of gravity) as they weave through the cones.

At the end of each side, the coach can feed a ball which the player can hit.
Another alternative is to laterally hop over the cones, which will add a different dynamic of footwork.
